NOBODY WAS BUILDING
A COOK SYSTEM FOR HUNTERS.
SO WE DID.

We're hunter-owned, hunter-built, and hunter-tested. We make one thing: the best cooking system for the backcountry. No compromise. No catering to the casual.

THE STORY

The idea for Roughridge started on a Wyoming elk hunt in 2022.

We were miles deep in the backcountry, frustrated. Not with the hunt. With our cook setup.

The problem we kept running into: backcountry hunters are forced to choose between bulky, hard-to-pack stove systems or lightweight setups that require piecing together multiple brands. There was no all-in-one solution built for our needs. The market was full of cook systems built for car campers and weekend backpackers. Brands that talk about adventure but design for parking lots. Aluminum pots that scorch food. Plastic parts that break in the cold. Stoves that fail when you actually need them.

Nobody was building a compact, high-performance cook system designed specifically for backcountry hunters. So we figured we'd do it ourselves.

Three years later, the Highcountry Cook System is here.

WHO WE ARE

We grew up in rural Iowa. Two brothers in farm country with too much time and not enough supervision.

Nobody handed us hunting. Our dad didn't take us out. We figured it out on our own. We started with trapline runs, learning to read sign and patterns the hard way. From there it was bowhunting whitetails. Hours in the woods. Mistakes. More hours. The kind of education you only get when there's no one to ask.

By the time we left Iowa, hunting wasn't a hobby. It was the thing that mattered most.

After college at the University of Iowa, we moved west. Out here, hunting got bigger. Elk in the dark timber. Antelope across high desert. Bear in the aspen. The country was harder, the seasons longer, the gear demands different. We chased it all and we're still chasing it. Sheep and moose are next.

Roughridge is what happens when two brothers spend twenty years figuring out hunting from the ground up and decide to build the cook system we always wanted to carry. We run it out of LaPorte, Colorado. We live where we hunt. We hunt with what we sell.

WHY WE BUILT IT

Backcountry hunting is its own sport. The conditions are harder, the weight matters more, and the cook system has to actually work when it's 15°F and the wind is howling at 11,000 feet.

Camping brands don't build for that. They build for weekend trips and family campsites. Outdoor companies chasing a broad audience can't afford to design for the hardest 5% of users. So they don't.

We do. Roughridge exists because backcountry hunters deserve a cook system built specifically for them. Not adapted from camping. Not rebranded from somewhere else. Designed from the ground up for the way we actually use it.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

AUTHENTICITY

We're hunters. We don't dilute our voice to appeal to the masses, and we don't pretend to be something we're not.

GRIT

We work in the grind. Pushing through the hard parts is what separates hunters from the granola crowd.

INNOVATION

We push design and engineering to meet the real demands of hardcore hunters. Not the demands of a marketing team.

ADVOCACY

We stand for our community, our lifestyle, and the future of hunting. Loud and proud about all three.

COMMITMENT

Our customers don't quit. Neither do we. Every product, every decision, every detail is made with hunters in mind.

THE MISSION

Build the most rugged, high-performance backcountry cook system on the market. For the hunter who refuses to compromise.

SEE THE SYSTEM

The Highcountry Cook System is built around everything we've covered above. Titanium throughout. 10 ounces. Designed for backcountry conditions.
